THE HONEST DIAGNOSIS OF WHAT WE HAVE NOW
The eight avatars (Giver, Driver, Seeker, Anchor, Watcher, Performer, Keeper, Peacemaker) are warm, memorable, and they sell. Underneath, they are a single dominant type laid over the Big Five (OCEAN). That is the same move MBTI and the Enneagram make, and it carries the same scientific weakness: forcing a person into one of eight boxes throws away most of the real information and tests poorly on retest. The Big Five base is legitimate. The boxing is the soft spot.
So the goal is not to throw out the eight. It is to keep them as the friendly front door while making what sits behind the door genuinely holistic, more personal, and defensible to anyone with a psychology background. The science honesty is the moat, not a constraint.
THE ONE DESIGN PRINCIPLE
Measure on dimensions, narrate with archetypes, render as a unique configuration.
THE METHOD - SIX LENSES ON ONE PERSON
Think of it as one person seen through six honest lenses. Each lens is grounded in a recognised, validated body of work. The person is the unique pattern across all six, not any single label.
Lens 1 - How you are wired (Traits) Base instrument: HEXACO or Big Five, drawn from the public-domain IPIP item banks. HEXACO adds Honesty-Humility, which Big Five misses and which matters for trust and values. This is the measurement spine. It is what the eight archetypes are read from.
Lens 2 - What moves you (Drives) Schwartz Theory of Basic Human Values (ten values, validated across cultures), plus Self-Determination Theory (autonomy, competence, relatedness) and Regulatory Focus (do you move toward gains or guard against losses). This is the “why” the trait layer cannot give you.
Lens 3 - How you think (the De Bono lens, done properly) De Bono’s Six Thinking Hats are not a personality test and we never pretend they are. They are a thinking repertoire. We anchor each hat to a measurable construct so the lens stays legitimate: White hat, facts and information -> Need for Cognition Red hat, feeling and intuition -> experiential processing (the REI scale) Black hat, caution and critique -> prevention focus, critical thinking Yellow hat, optimism and benefit -> promotion focus, dispositional optimism Green hat, creativity -> Openness, divergent thinking Blue hat, process and overview -> metacognition and self-regulation We report your default hats, your under-used hats, and a practice to flex the ones you skip. This is honest because it is framed as a skill set you can grow, not a cage. It also rests on real science: Whole Trait Theory shows traits are patterns of states, so “you have a default and you can flex” is true, not marketing.
Lens 4 - What you bring (Strengths) VIA Character Strengths (twenty-four strengths under six virtues, a validated positive-psychology instrument). This is the strengths-first, dignifying layer, and it is where philosophy enters cleanly through virtue ethics (below).
Lens 5 - Who you are becoming (Story) McAdams’ three levels of personality: traits, then characteristic adaptations (goals, coping, roles), then narrative identity (the story you tell about your life). The story layer is the most personal, the most future-facing, and the one an AI can genuinely help you author. This is where uniqueness actually lives.
Lens 6 - How you connect (optional, handled gently) Attachment and relational style, and emotion regulation. Powerful for the couples and team products. Treated with care and never as a diagnosis.
WHERE PHILOSOPHY BELONGS (AND WHERE IT DOES NOT)
Philosophy is the meaning frame, clearly separated from the measurement. We never blur the two. Measured facts are labelled as measured. Meaning is labelled as interpretation.
HOW UNIQUENESS IS HONOURED, HONESTLY
Across six lenses with several facets each, the number of distinct configurations runs into the millions. So the claim “this is effectively yours alone” is true by the maths, not by flattery. The report shows the whole configuration, plus the facets you lead with and the ones you under-use (the growth edges), plus your own story layer. The eight archetypes remain only as the lead voice that gets you in the door.

The leverage move Build the instrument once. One scored, validated, multi-lens engine plus a content system, and every product draws from it: the quiz, the reports, the AI-That-Knows-You kit, the AAVATAI personas, team and couples maps, and the KDP books. Build once, sell many. The engine is the compounding asset; the eight archetypes are the front door.
The cheap test to de-risk (do this before any heavy build) Assemble a pilot instrument from the public-domain scales inside the existing quiz or a simple form. Run it on fifty to a hundred and fifty people from the HF audience and network. Check three things: do the scales hold together (internal consistency), is the lead-archetype mapping stable on retest, and does the new “constellation” report beat the single-type report on felt accuracy and willingness to pay. One to two weeks, near zero cost. It de-risks both the science and the market before the build.
Cross-sell (one identity object through the whole ecosystem) The profile output seeds the “Who I Am” file in the AI-That-Knows-You kit (it already has the Avatar-type field) and it seeds the design of an AAVATAI persona. One profile, flowing into the AI setup product and the avatar product. That is the unfair synergy.
The price ladder Free snapshot (lead magnet) -> full constellation report around 19 to 29 dollars -> AI operating-manual bundle (the kit, seeded by your profile) -> relationship and team maps -> optional re-test and tracking subscription. The books reuse the same engine content per lens or per archetype.
Ownership and licensing This is owned IP, licensed under Nicola Harvey, home at Her Frontier, with the AAVATAI build paying licensing back to HF and a royalty to Nicola. A validated, philosophically distinct instrument is licensable to coaches, teams, and organisations later. Sole author, built solo on her Mac.
The opportunity cost This is deep work and it delays other builds. And going multi-lens risks complexity that could dilute the dead-simple viral hook. The mitigation is staging: keep the eight-type front door simple and free, put the depth behind the paid wall, and never make someone meet six lenses before they have met themselves in one vivid word.
WHAT STAYS, WHAT CHANGES
Keep: the eight archetypes as the viral entry and their names, the warm report voice, the gift-and-shadow framing (it is virtue ethics, label it as such).
Change: move the language from “you are a type” to “your lead pattern is X, and here is your full pattern across six lenses.” Add the dimensional scores, the other lenses, the under-used facets, the flex practice, and the story layer.
Add: the honesty layer. Cite the instruments, show the scores, separate measured from interpreted, and carry the disclaimer with pride.

The model concept is a constellation: a unique configuration of points, not a box. Plain-language name options to choose from, all grounded and not lofty: - Your Full Pattern (builds straight on the existing “pattern” language) - The Constellation - Facets Recommendation: lead with “Your Full Pattern” for continuity, hold “Constellation” as the visual and product concept.
